Selecting the highest quality oral hygiene products for your family can be a bit of a challenge. A trip to the dental aisle in any grocery store or drug store might leave you baffled, as there are so many choices. In fact, invasive marketing claims and colorful packaging can sometimes obscure the difference between a cosmetic oral hygiene product and one that can play a role in your daily oral hygiene routine.

To meet this need, the American Dental Association instituted their Seal of Acceptance program in 1931. The program’s rigorous guidelines help to establish industry standards for the safety and effectiveness of oral hygiene products.

Participation in the program is voluntary. If a manufacturer wants to display the ADA Seal of Acceptance on the product they can submit it to the ADA for testing and research.  Then, if the product meets the rigorous guidelines it will earn the right to portray the Seal of Acceptance on the label and be indexed on the ADA’s website

If you have any questions about the safety and effectiveness of the oral hygiene products your family uses, you can always call Crosby Dental Center’s office in Houston, Texas at 281-328-3569 to seek professional advice. Dr. Jim Nored and our dedicated dental team are always excited to help our patients achieve healthy, confident smiles!
