We believe that a smile is one of the first thing people notice about you, and we understand how important it is to care for your smile. You may have heard that there are some foods and drinks that can strengthen your teeth and some foods that could cause damage—and maybe you try to eat the beneficial foods regularly. But, did you know that it’s possible to crack your teeth when you eat? Granted, it is rare to crack your teeth this way, but it is possible. To help you avoid this problem, we are happy to provide you with a few foods you should be wary of.

Hard, Crunchy Foods: Some foods, like hard pretzels or baguettes, can crack a tooth. This is especially true if you have a tooth that has had dental work, since these teeth are weaker than others. Also, biting into bones may cause problems.

Hard Nuts: Do you know about the health benefits of almonds? While there are many, please be careful. Chewing almonds—especially whole—can hurt your teeth. However, if you love your almonds, try purchasing them sliced.

Un-Pitted Olives: If an olive isn’t prepared properly, biting into it could hurt your teeth. This is because you are more likely to bite into an olive expecting something soft, only to discover something hard in its place. Usually, the problem is biting into the object (in this case a pit) with too much force.
