Are there gaps and spaces in your smile? Are you missing one or more permanent teeth? We may recommend a dental bridge. A dental bridge is a permanent restoration that closes the gap caused by missing teeth. Dentists may suggest a dental bridge to:
- Restore the beauty and functionality of your smile
- Restore your ability to chew and speak properly
- Maintain your face shape
- Properly distribute your bite
- Prevent your natural teeth from shifting out of place
All of the dental bridges we provide are metal free. There are three main types of dental bridges. Traditional dental bridges are made with dental crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap with a replacement tooth in between. Traditional bridges, the most common type of bridge, are made from porcelain or ceramics. Cantilever dental bridges are not as common. They are used when there is only a tooth on one side of the gap. The third type is a Maryland bonded dental bridge made of bonded porcelain. They are supported by a porcelain framework with wings that bond to your natural teeth. The permanence of a dental bridge is its priority appeal. Properly cared for, it has a decades long lifespan and without metal frame work the margins remain beautiful and the gum line stabilizes the bridge into a lifetime restoration. The removable partials and their problems are not a part of modern, bonded, bridgework.
